A tropical plant grown in Indonesia and the Philippines, Patchouli is widely used in perfumery. Its essential oil is produced by distillation of the leaves. Once obtained, the essence must age several months in barrels, to lose its bitterness.

A raw material which is expensive and luxurious today, patchouli  enjoys a growing interest from the perfume brands for several years.

Used as a base note in both masculine and feminine fragrances, patchouli brings its earthy woody flavor to chypre, leather and oriental facets.

Its powerful smell also gives off smoky, camphoric and even medicinal accents.
