Nicknamed the Blue Gold in region where it blossoms, Lavender embodies the soul of the sunny fields and summers in Provence! Its olfactory signature, fresh and sweet, transports us in a wake of total serenity. Very fragrant, it can be invigorating and purifying.
Coming from the west of the Mediterranean basin, lavender was already used by the Romans to preserve linen and perfume baths. Even today, bags of dried flowers are placed in clothing cupboards.
In Provence, lavender was used since the Middle Ages for the composition of perfumes and medicines.
In perfumery, it is widely used in the small soaps crafts and in fine perfumery as well. Reserved mainly for masculine notes, it is found in soliflore eau de toilette and heart notes in colognes.
In herbal medicine, it is recommended very often for its relaxing and soothing virtues.

The quality of lavender is deemed to increase with altitude. Growing on the sunny slopes of the mountains at an altitude of 500 to 1700 m, it is harvested during the bloom from late June to August.
